How to Make Networking WORK for You!

Monday, January 11th, 2010

Well, the cat’s out of the bag. The #1 ways to find new clients and business are networking and word of mouth – what does that boil down to?  RELATIONSHIPS.  Before we really get into networking, we need to talk about emotional equity. Emotional equity is when others care so much about you that they take your goals and desires personally. They want to help you get what you want. Here’s the formula to create emotional equity and a 7 Figure Business.

Energy = equity         Equity = access         Access = influence.

The key to building relationships is networking. This week, I’ll be sharing about my top six networking essentials, so don’t miss a day.

#1. Practice “Palm Up” Networking. When you network, are you giving, or grasping? Palm up networking embodies the spirit of service, of giving and wanting nothing in return. When you network “palm down” you’re grasping for personal gain. Palm up equals heart-oriented interaction. Based on my experience, the universe has a perfect accounting system. Give to others–it’ll all come back to you in time.

I go to a fair amount of networking events. I can’t possibly list all the times I’ve met someone, found out what interested them, introduced them to a potential client/partner/board member or provided some other benefit to them. As a result, amazing opportunities appear on a regular basis. For instance, when I wanted an intro to a Hollywood producer, I was introduced to one with two weeks of setting this goal.

As part of my own palm-up networking, I created a free CD for all of my social media connections http://www.bit.ly/iBmuI, with this I’ve offered a free two-week introduction to my monthly mentoring program.  This program is an opportunity to implement my 7 Figure Business Building Formula despite the recession, the market, the competition, etc., etc.

The Psyche Behind Why Social Networking Works

Social Networking Tips – Maximizing your Facebook Profile

Tuesday, May 19th, 2009

Okay, here’s my usual Wednesday Disclaimer:  For those of you who have run past your 5K friend limit on Facebook, have a rockin’ FB Group and who regularly CONTACT that group with amazing tools and offers – well, this is not the blog for you. But if you don’t fit that mold, then read on – because if you aren’t maximizing Facebook, then you’re missing some vital strategies for success and a great biz building opportunity.

Okay, it’s really important to keep your Profile Page exciting on FB! How do you do that without spending three hours a day corresponding with people and playing dumb games all day? You practice the 123 of “Profile-ing”

1. Add photos to your albums and change your profile picture at least every other day. Why?  Because when you make pic changes, they show up on your friends’ home page when they log in. This keeps you “alive” and in front of them.

2. Video video video! Of YOU if possible. If you don’t have a webcam, pick up a cheap flipcam for a hundred bucks or ask a friend. Keep the videos entertaining, informative and SHORT! If you’re able to, post a new one each day with a great tip. Again, these show up on your friends’ home page when they log in. And video is COMPELLING!

3. I’ve shared before about posting your blog to your profile using Networked Blogs. In addition to this, be sure to open the blog and PUBLISH your recent updates (and invite 20 friends to follow it every day).

The bottom line is that Social Networking is NOT going away, and Facebook is a popular network. And remember, “social” networking is fine, but the REALLY big deals are done face to face. I’d love to help you create some of those opportunities on June 5 and 6 at my Results Now Summit. There will be some big financing opportunities available, and we all know – financing is a huge piece of the success puzzle! (And success is the BIGGEST path to financial freedom — for you AND your loved ones.)

To your continued success!

Some Quick and Dirty Advice on Networking and Branding – Creating a Signature to Remember

Tuesday, May 19th, 2009

One of the simplest ways to promote yourself (and easiest to forget) is your signature line.  Okay, email is the obvious, but besides your website, be sure to put links to your blog, all of your social networking sites, your page on ezinearticles.com, etc.

(By the way, your website should also have a button linking to your social networks – not just your blog.)  And any time you post a blog, a question on Linkedin, respond to someone ELSE’s blog, or comment on a Yahoo Group, etc., be sure to put your entire signature and links there as well.  Finally, NEVER forget to put all of this info on your ezine or newsletter.

This is a simple way to turn contacts into friends and friends into a FANS – or even clients!  This is one of the simplest strategies for success that we should ALL be implementing every single day.  To be part of my Results Now Summit in June and learn every trick I’ve got up my sleeve, go to http://www.ResultsNowSummit.com and save your seat!

How do you start a social networking presence?

Friday, May 15th, 2009

Today’s social networking world can be amazingly overwhelming to new biz builders (and old biz builders for that matter!).  Twitter, Linkedin, Facebook, MySpace, Ning, PerfectNetworker, Jekyll, Hyde … (Okay, I’m kidding about the last two, but you get the picture).  And when you go looking for the how-to on this, there’s SO much info that it’s hard to know where to start.

That’s why I’ll be talking a lot about social networking and online branded expertise at my Results Now Summit on June 5 and 6.  I’ll cover the MUSTS, as well as the dos and don’ts!  For today, I think covering the don’ts is a quick and easy lesson that you can adopt immediately and save yourself a pitfall.  #1. DON’T ignore this!  Social Networking is not a fad that will disappear in a few years.  It is a phenomenon for biz builders and service providers.  This is even true if you don’t have a website!  #2. Don’t make yourself crazy!  Only use as many networks as you can maintain once or twice a week.  Potential customers won’t wait around for you to check some obscure social networking site once a month.

Okay gang.  I’ll cover these tips in greater detail in June.  If you haven’t registered yet, definitely do so today. Spots are filling up fast.  Here’s to LIVING your DREAMS!

Don’t have a Website? Put up a Blog! Social Networking Tips for Beginners

Wednesday, May 13th, 2009

Okay, here’s my usual Wednesday disclaimer for the many multimillionaires who follow my blog.  You don’t need this tip!  If you’re rockin’ and rollin’ and have a plethora of products, services (and clients!), skip this blog.  BUT IF YOU ARE NEW to biz building and you need a great strategy for success – this is a sure way to build your online presence.

The web is a great place for beginning entrepreneurs to launch a business presence.  But what happens when you don’t even have the startup capital to put up a website (or the time to learn how to create one on your own)?  One HUGELY simple way around this dilemma is to put up a free blog page that contains your contact information, a few key phrases that help you stand out in the crowd, and a bio.  You can even feature products or services each week AND build fans to help you spread the word.

Here’s the 1-2-3 to create this for yourself.

1. Go to any of the free blogging sites and sign up.  I’ll use Blogger as the example here.  Go to http://www.blogger.com and register for your blog.  Remember that the URL needs to be easy to remember and easy to SPELL.  So avoid words that can be numerals and phrases with more than three words.

2. When you go to your “about me” page, DEFINITELY put your contact information at the very top – otherwise your fans and friends may never know how to find you.

3. Once your blog is up, log into your Facebook page and find the “Networked Blogs” app – link your blog to your profile and start inviting friends to FOLLOW your blog.  Since you can only invite 20 people per day this way, ask them to SHARE and invite others to follow your blog as well.

Finally, do be compelling and interesting.  You can feature products and services, but also be sure to provide great free information and resources.  Having reciprocity is always a sure strategy for success that can’t be beat!

Wednesday – Social Networking Tips from Christine

Wednesday, May 6th, 2009

Twitter Tip #6,999.02 (kidding) – But there are a lot of them out there!

Here’s one that’s actually a strategy for success and biz-building useful!  Twitter only allows you to FOLLOW 2,000 Tweeters.  (After you have 2,000 FOLLOWERS, however, you can grow in equal proportion to them.)  SO, if you’re nearing the 2,000 mark, get into a routine where you FOLLOW on Monday and then REMOVE those who don’t follow you back by Friday.  Here are the instructions for removing without too much pain|

Log into Twitter.
O
n the top right, under your photo, you will see Following, Followers, and Updates.
Click on Following.

Now, if you look carefully, you’ll see that each person either has a note in their “box” that says Direct Message — or they don’t.  The one’s that DO NOT have the Direct Message note need to be removed.

So you can just go through that list for an hour and hit remove, remove, remove.

Social Networking – VERY Basic DIY Newsletters / Ezines

Wednesday, April 29th, 2009

Okay guys, this is Newsletter 101.  For those of you rockin’ out weekly and monthly newsletters, skip it – but for those of you who DON’T have this in place yet, this is a must.  It is one of your surefire strategies for success.  To get started, you can grab a free trial of some great newsletter services, like http://www.icontact.com or http://www.constantcontact.com – there are other choices of course, but for pure beginners, those are two good ones to look at because they do not have a double opt-in feature.  You can simply upload your list and blast away.

Here’s the most basic rule for newsletters – be sure you have one!!!!  Remember, you don’t have to reinvent the wheel here – you can use your blog, or even discussions you launch on your various Linkedin Groups, etc., as part of your newsletter.  Be sure to put a ton of links back to your website, sales page, etc.  (You can also put just a teaser of an article on the newsletter or ezine and a link to the blog or website to read the rest.)  If you REALLY don’t have great stuff written to include, you can go to http://www.ezinearticles.com and use someone else’s stuff – just be sure to include all of their contact info (that’s the rule!).

The next rule is BE INTERESTING!  Everyone’s got an ezine these days.  Make sure that yours has your authentic voice.  Be funny.  Be creative.  Give VALUABLE information on your subject matter.

Next, be sure to include a summary of your featured services, links to social networks, blogs, website, etc., and an all-important blurb about upcoming events!  This is your opportunity to SHOWCASE yourself – don’t be bashful!  Remember your basic contact information also – it’s amazing how many newsletter newbies forget that!

Finally, be sure to have an OPT IN button on your website to capture interested parties that “drop by” and wish to be on your newsletter list.  (Hey, sign up here for my newsletter – believe me, it’s a winner!)  If you’re just starting out, simply send it to every single contact you have in your rolodex.  Be sure to say that it’s your first time and you’d love their feedback.  Many of them will be old hat and have some great ideas to pass along.
